My cycle finally arrived on Wednesday, only 4 days late which is great considering the cyst could have delayed things even longer since it filled with estrogen but it came relatively on time. So I went for my cycle day three ultrasound on Friday and found out that the cyst is GONE!! Both ovaries are clear (besides the tiny cysts that are always there due to the PCOS) but the monster that was taking over my right ovary disappeared on it's own, no surgery needed!! I think the doctors were a bit surprised because when they called me back to go over my results they asked if I had had surgery to remove it and just didn't tell them...but I said nope, it went away all on it's own, I'm a lucky, lucky girl.
So they put me on a new fertility med called Femara, 2.5mg 2x a day. It's another two-fer drug. It's used primarily as a chemotherapy drug for breast cancer but is also used for the treatment of infertility in aiding in the growth and production of eggs. Yay. I've been taking it for two days now and haven't really had any side effects other than a headache (which is what happened when I was on Clomid) so we're hopeful that this month will be successful and I'll be able to tolerate the full 5 days of taking it.
We have decided to try one more IUI, which will be our third attempt. Three's a charm, right? If this one doesn't work, we will move on to IVF. Please Please PLEASE pray for us and send good thoughts our way as we would really like this to be the end of our infertility journey and avoid having to go the IVF route, for more reasons than one. Thank you for your support and love, we couldn't get through this without it or you!!
