Welcome

Welcome to my blog, a place I can talk openly and honestly about my infertility and perhaps find some hope and enlightenment to help dig through the muck that can bog me down. A place I can be openly sad, find strength in resilience and continue to "sail on the lake of infertility, not drown in it."

A little background:

My husband and I have been trying to build our family since February of 2008. I was diagnosed with PCOS in August of 2008, and found out I needed open heart surgery in October of 2009 to correct a congenital defect. I had a pacemaker implanted in June of 2010, and the hubs and I decided to resume our TTC journey as of December 2010. Sadly, 2011 was not to be our year: we finally conceived in September but I suffered an early miscarriage on October 16, 2011. In 2015, after several more failed cycles and continued disappointment, and after taking some time to focus on other things (our marriage, ourselves, and aspects of our lives we had long neglected and/or put on the back-burner), we decided to take the plunge in to IVF. Our 4^th and final round brought us our Evelyn, the brave little girl who made us parents after so many long years…but our Little Bird was born suddenly and prematurely on August 15, 2016 and passed away the following morning in her daddy’s loving embrace. We will never be the same.
